Colt Model 1861 percussion rifled musket with lock dated 1862. In the white rifled round barrel with 3 barrel bands. Blade front sight with notched 3 position rear flip sight. "VP" with "Eagle head" proofs on left rear flat of breech. "N.J. Steel" stamp on left side under proofs indicating shipment for use by the New Jersey State Militia. Percussion lock dated 1862 at rear with "U.S. Colt's PtFA Mfg Co Hartford, Connecticut" in front of hammer. Nice Federal Eagle on bolster. Walnut full military stock with "N.J." stamp on left side of stock with owner's initial in dotted letters on carry area. Steel hardware with "U.S." marked buttplate. Original steel ramrod. Comes with unmarked bayonet. CONDITION: Overall good with metal showing some age blemishing. Wood has some usage marks with traces of original finish. Gun has pleasing aged finish with no visible restoration. Shootable bore with good mechanics. DLM
