Fantastic high condition Bliss & Goodyear, with original box, serial number 1763. Caliber .28 Percussion. A genuine pocket revolver from the Civil War era. The diminutive Bliss & Goodyear Model was the result of a pre-war partnership between Frank D. Bliss & Alfred D. Goodyear. The sole agent to distribute their revolver was the Union Knife Company. Based on Flayderman’s Guide, approximately 3,000 of these unique revolvers were made in 1860. Matching serial number "1763" appears on the frame under the grips and is also stamped on the bottom of the 3" octagon barrel. Standard model, .28 caliber, features 6-shot cylinder and spur trigger. The top of the barrel is marked “BLISS & GOODYEAR NEW HAVEN CT”. Includes the original, factory cardboard box, with advertising page on the inside cover. The storage box is the original, period-correct version, with black fabric coating. This was commonly paired with early production revolvers. Later production models were contained in a simple, blue-colored cardboard box. Also features the original revolver-loading accessories: powder flask, brass bullet mold, and empty brass tin of Hick’s caps. All 4 items are in great shape. PROVENANCE: From the T. Joseph Cogan Collection. CONDITION: Great. Overall surface has about 50-60 % original blue finish remaining. Walnut grips are solid & in excellent condition. Mechanics are very good as well. Hammer locks firmly in both the half notch and full cock positions. Slight pitting and scratches exist on the frame. Partial re-bluing exists on the pitted areas of the frame and cylinder. Bore is turning dark with strong rifling. Loading lever operates perfectly and rests tight against the barrel. Original bronze cone front sight is present. Accessories are excellent. A truly unique, Civil War Era specimen. JH
