Simson & Shul Co Mauser 98 Sporter bolt action rifle. Chamber dated 1926. This is a converted Gewher 98 Mauser military rifle with military proofs on the chamber area. Barrel is marked "6.5x55". Round, steel barrel with blade front and two position flip up U notch rear. Reapplied blued finish on the receiver and barrel. Receiver has been drilled for a scope. Blued finish on the floor plate with engraving work of a Stag and scroll scenes around the edges. German sporting style flat bolt handle, and two position safety for use when a scope is mounted. Custom wood stock with checkering at the wrist. Plastic butt plate with Mauser banner. Includes attached braided leather sling. CONDITION: Metal retains 95% of its reapplied blued finish with a few minor handling marks. Stock is excellent. Bore is shiny with sharp rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
