Upper Susquehanna Kentucky style rifle signed in script "GK" for George Keen of Snyder County, Pennsylvania circa 1830. Half round half octagon barrel with straight cut rifling, blade front sight and notched rear sight with script initials "GK". Flint lock with two bolt "Ram's Horn" sideplate controlled by turned tail hand made trigger. Full curly maple stock with brass furniture including "Whale Tail Finial" patchbox with 9 piercings and engraved on lid with the initials "DH" and a brass saddleplate. Release for lid in center right of buttplate. Gun has 6 coin silver inlays including "Man in The Moon" inlay above cheekpiece. Stock has circular incised carved floral pattern behind the cheekpiece. CONDITION: As found condition with replacement lock reconverted to flint with wood loss around lock. Small repaired piece in front of lock. Incorrect lock screws. Crack through lock area. Period brass plate repair in front of tail pipe. Saddle plate missing some nails. Trigger guard has added screw on front part. Dark bore with visible rifling. Poor mechanics. Good rifle in need of restoration. DLM
