30" monobloc barrels with brass bead front sight on partially vented file cut rib. Barrels marked "Alex Martin" on left sight, "Continental" on right. Marked with appropriate Italian diagnostic proofs for a 3" 20 gauge with Armi stamp and script WR. Forearm with Deely release engraved with scroll and floral petals and checkered throughout in a point pattern. Receiver is engraved with nearly 100% coverage of well executed acanthus engraving with occasional beaded scroll on a stippled ground; even the gullets are engraved in a simple line pattern and underneath the lever is engraved en suite with balance of gun. Detachable trigger plate with action mounted inside. Trigger place is largely bare with simple border. Single mechanical trigger. Automatic safety. Long trigger tang running almost to uncapped pistol grip with point pattern checkering at wrist. Spliced in buttplate with checkered butt. Housed in a leather wrapped Nizzoli case with no accessories. CONDITION: Very good as partly rehabilitated. Barrel blue has been redone forward of the monobloc, with a distinct pluming behind. There are a few handling marks throughout, including a few very minor spots of silvering. Wood is very good with a few minor marks, forearm has shrunk somewhat away from iron. Receiver is very good, engraving is very attractive. Action works appropriately, ejectors are slightly out of time, bores are excellent, bright and shiny. Rear wooden buttplate has a heavy application of varnish that has softened the checkering. Case has some scuffs and rubs to exterior, interior is very good but there is a distinct area in lid where a trade label was removed at one time. A lovely engraved Scottish shotgun. EW
