Remington New Model 1858 Army 6 shot revolver made by E. Remington and Sons in Ilion, New York from 1863 to 1875. Blued 8" octagon barrel with blade cone front sight. Barrel marked with "Patented Sept. 14, 1858, E. Remington & Sons, Ilion, New York, U.S.A. NEW MODEL". "W" on right side of barrel breech and "D" on left near breech and serial number "91718" on bottom of barrel. Blued frame and 6 shot percussion cylinder with "C" in front of cylinder and "W" behind lug on left side of frame. "W" in front cylinder on right. Brass trigger guard with "H" stamped on it. Walnut 2 piece grips with Inspector's Mark "BH" in box on left grip. Frame under grip is serial numbered "91718". Serial number is in range of guns shipped to the U.S. Government from 1863 to 1865. Gun comes with period unmarked leather flap holster with black finish and tintype of soldier holding a "Remington New Model Army" along with a Confederate 50 Dollar bill and paper charged bullet for gun. PROVENANCE: Comes with notarized letter stating ownership by Gaylord McFall (tintype) of the 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry. CONDITION: Overall good with 40% original blue with holster wear. Grip has sharp cartouche with traces of original finish. Excellent bore with crisp mechanics. Holster is in used condition, but not abused with good stitching. Accessories are in good condition. A good Civil War period rig. DLM
