Colt Model 1878 hammer side by side shotgun made by Colt Firearms, Hartford, Connecticut in 1887. Damascus steel barrels with smooth unmarked concave rib with bead front sight and extractors. Case hardened frame with "Colt Pt F.A. Mfg. Co." on each lock with double triggers. Walnut checkered English style grip stock with trigger guard tang serial number not matching frame (2912), forearm (2912), or barrels (2912). Walnut splinter forearm with ebony inlay and latch release. CONDITION: Barrels have been rebrowned with action turning a plum color. Wood has been cleaned with checkering recut. Small cracks near buttplate. Most likely trigger guard is a replacement. Pitted bores with tight lockup and good mechanics. DLM
