Colt Model 1878 exposed hammer double barrel shotgun made by Colt Forearms, Hartford, Connecticut in 1879. Damascus "Twist" steel barrels with smooth unmarked concave rib. Bead front sight and extractors. Case hardened frame marked with "Colt's Pt F.A. Mfg. Co." on each lock. Second year production gun with serial number "459". Walnut checkered round knob pistol grip stock with smooth steel buttplate. Walnut checkered splinter forearm with ebony triangle inlay and latch release. CONDITION: Gun has been reconditioned with barrels rebrowned and fire blue metal parts refinished. Stock has repair near left lockplate and has been cleaned with checkering re-cut. Shootable bores with good mechanics. DLM
