Colt Model 1878 side by side hammer shotgun made from 1878 to 1889 by Colt Hartford, Connecticut. Damascus steel barrels with smooth rib marked with "Colt's Pt. F.A. MFG. Co. Hartford, Conn.". Case hardened action marked "Colt's Pt F. A. MFG. Co." on left and right sides of action with "W.F. & Co. EX. #15" under name on right side of action. Walnut wood round knob pistol grip stock with Colt logo bakelite buttplate and German silver stock shield. Walnut checkered splinter forearm with ebony inlay and latch release. CONDITION: Metal parts turning a brown patina with some surface pitting. Wells Fargo number appears traced. Wood has been cleaned and checkering has been retraced. Bores are pitted and mechanics are good. DLM
