Heavy Kentucky style percussion target rifle stamped on barrel "E.W. McCraner" made in Willowdell, Ohio circa 1850. Heavy octagon barrel measuring 47 - 1/2" long and 1 -1/4" across muzzle flats with marks on end of barrel for load with extra dovetail and holes for sight adjustment. Barrel has blade front sight with added behind more modern sight. Rear sight is a huge adjustable buckhorn sight. Barrel flat is stamped with "E.W. McCraner" then "Burns" and on left barrel flat is barrel maker's stamp "James Bown & Sons Pittsburgh, Pa.". Percussion lock with light engraving controlled by double triggers. Curly maple fullstock with brass furniture and hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal turning to a silvery patina with shades of original finish. Wood has original finish with crack behind lock going up into wrist with repair point behind trigger guard. Good shootable bore with visible rifling. Good mechanics. DLM
