Winchester Model 1885 low wall single shot rifle. Made 1888. Top of the barrel marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A", with "22 SHORT" being stamped in front of the chamber. Serial "28727" on the bottom of the tang. Round steel barrel with blade front and rear leaf sight. Original blued finish on the barrel and frame. Original oil finished wood stocks and crescent metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal retains 50% of its original finish with a dull patina forming over most of the metal areas. Stock has numerous handling marks and scratches. Frosted bore with light pitting near the muzzle. Poor rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
