Joseph E. Sivits was a contemporary rifle builder and shooter that lived in New Paris, Bedford County, Pennsylvania in the late 1960s and 70s. Octagon browned rifled barrel with blade front sight and notched rear sight with silver plate signed in script "J.E. Sivits". Classic Bedford County style hand made "Rat Tail" percussion lock with classic Bedford style high spur hammer marked "Lynn Faust Johnstown, Pa" (possible owner or lock maker) controlled by double set triggers. Full curly maple raised carved stock with brass furniture including a typical 4 piece patchbox with 5 piercings. Gun has 24 coin silver engraved inlays with engraved "Eagle" on the cheekpiece. Gun has atypical Bedford County style strawberry vine raised carving behind cheekpiece. Well built copy of a classic Bedford County Rifle. CONDITION: Overall good with some light handling marks with good bore and mechanics. DLM
