Serial number 43376; given known factory cutoffs of 29359 in 1864 and 48475 in 1865, this gun was produced in 1865. Barrel with single line address, blade front sight, and notch rear sight. "C24" assembly numbers observed on rear of barrel assembly, front face of cylinder, and frame. Gold washed cylinder with equatorial patent rollmark and vignettes of single leaves in portraiture. Barrel assembly and receiver acid etched with flowing florals in approximately 2/3rds coverage, with most vacant space on barrel. 2 piece ivory grips are numbered internally "378". Period silver plating. CONDITION: Very good, with good engraving. Most silver plating has lifted, remaining plate has some tarnishing throughout and some normal handling and wear marks. Some age related darkening that does not detract. Cylinder has a turn line through the gold wash and some scattered dotted lifting. Bore is good with well defined rifling and some frosting throughout. Grips are full sized with no chips but a few minor age related cracks and a mellow patina. PROVENANCE: Dr. Gerald Klaz. EW
