T. Blissett, Seaman or Coachman brass barreled blunderbuss with spring bayonet made circa 1840 in Liverpool, England. Popular with seaman and coach operators circa the mid 19th century. Brass smoothbore half octagon to round cannon muzzled barrel marked "Liverpool" on top barrel flat with a spring loaded triangular bayonet which locks in place with front sight. Back action percussion lock marked "T. Blissett" is controlled by a single trigger. Walnut stock with brass furniture and checkered grip. German silver thumbpiece inlay below tang with sliding catch to hold bayonet when not in use above inlay. Comes with wooden display board with brass furniture. CONDITION: Brass has been cleaned with metal parts having a light coat of surface rust. Traces of original varnish with handling marks and dings. Nipple has broken tip. Shootable bore with good mechanics. Display is in nice condition. DLM
