Lot consists of: (A) Rock Island 1903 bolt action rifle. Made 1919 with "U.S.M.C/4-42" Sedgley marked barrel. Correct, crudely drilled "Hatcher Hole" on the left side of the receiver. Milled trigger guard with correct 1903 swept back bolt. Stock has a boxed "RIA/FK" rebuild stamp, followed by a boxed "FJA", both on the left side of the stock. Circled "P" on the bottom of the wrist. Original rebuild, light parkerized finish on the metal components. Correct oil finished straight stock with no finger grooves. Checkered metal butt plate with trapdoor. Of note, the trapdoor has "AAL" hand stippled into it. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its light arsenal reapplied finish with light handling marks and wear. Stock is very good with light wear and handling marks. Bore is frosted, with some minor pitting near the muzzle. Good rifling retained. Mechanically fine. Nice example of a 1903 Springfield most likely sent to the Marine Corps in World War Two. (B) Remington Model 1903 bolt action rifle. Made 1941 with, "RA/Flaming Bomb/7-42" marked barrel. "R" stamped safety and bolt parts. Milled trigger guard and World War Two style straight down bolt handle. "AAQ" stamped on the left side of the stock with "P" proof on the wrist. "SS" stamped on the bottom of the stock above the forearm. Metal components retain their original parkerized finish. Oil finished straight wrist stock with no finger grooves. Smooth metal butt plate with trap door. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its original parkerized finish. Stock is very good with dings, scratches and handling marks. Bore is frosted, but retains sharp rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
