Springfield Model 1903 bolt action rifle made in 1917 fitted with Warner-Swasey Telescopic Musket Sight. "SA" marked barrel with "Flaming Bomb" and dated with "11- ?". Correct blued bolt action with bridge marked "U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903 636797". Banded blade front sight and rear 1905 adjustable flip sight for 30-06 cartridge. "S" type walnut two screw stock with "W.E.S." in box and illegible rebuild mark under cut-off switch. Walnut high hump top wood. Milled triggerguard with "H" stamped bayonet lug and Parkerized trap checkered buttplate. Action is drilled for three screw Warner-Swasey rail with Warner-Swasey Model 1913 scope married to gun with rail marked inside "For Rifle NO. 709262" (not this rifle). Sight is numbered "No. 7753". Sight comes with reproduction rubber eyepiece. Gun comes with leather sling marked "Rock Island Arsenal 1915 T.G.G." CONDITION: Rifle has pits near end of barrel with date unreadable. Action has faded to a silvery patina with some light surface pitting. Wood has been cleaned with replaced buttplate and usage marks and dings. Shootable bore with good mechanics. Scope has cloudy optics with what look like water bubbles. Scope retains 60% of original black paint and is complete with reproduction eyepiece. Interesting piece for the World War I enthusiast. DLM
