2 stage round barrel with first stage knurled for a surer grip on the open sea. Bead front sight slot vacant. Breech loading mechanism is frozen. Skeleton stock lightened to make the weapon remotely maneuverable. Gun has been plated in brass. Mounted on a contemporary wall plaque that also sports a deactivated bomb lance, also plated. These were used to propel bomb lances for whale hunting prior to the use of more conventional firearms. CONDITION: Good as plated. Some waviness to the plating and some bumps and bruises and minor pitting acquired post plating. Plaque is very good as contemporary. Bomb lance is very good with some minor handling marks. An attractive example of a neat example of nautical history. EW
