Savage Model 1899 lever action rifle made in 1908. Blued octagon barrel with special order fold down beech front sight with rear adjustable notch sight. Barrel marked in front of rear sight with Savage address and patents and at breech with caliber .25-35. Gun is marked on left barrel flat to left of rear sight "Savage Hi-pressure steel Model 1899". Blued receiver with brass cartridge counter and case hardened lever with sliding safety on lever. Marble's Tang Peep sight. Special order walnut plain pistol grip stock with crescent steel buttplate. Walnut splinter schnabel tipped forearm. CONDITION: Blue fading to a plum brown with wear on corners. Case colors have faded to a silvery brown with an old coat of oil glazed over. Wood has dark appearance with repair around tang with plastic wood and on toe area. Tang sight has incorrect screw in hinge. Shootable bore with good mechanics. Rare gun in hard to find caliber. DLM
