Burnside Fourth Model Carbine made between 1862 and 1865 by the Burnside Rifle Company, Providence, Rhode Island. Blued round rifled barrel with pinned blade front sight with rear 2 leaf flip sight and having inspector's mark right behind of "* P". Case hardened frame marked "Burnside Patent March 25th 1856" and serial number "20140". Action missing slide bar and saddle ring. Walnut plain buttstock with steel furniture and walnut splinter forearm with single barrel band. CONDITION: Overall poor with metal fading to a dark patina with some surface pitting. Missing slide bar and ring and sling swivels. Wood has oil soaked appearance with heavy usage marks and dings. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
