Rare Remington-Lee Model 1885 box fed bolt action rifle made for the United States Navy between 1885 and 1907. Blued round 32" round rifled barrel with pinned blade front sight and graduated flip up rear sight marked with "R" and graduated to 500 yards. Case hardened action marked on receiver "U.S.N." over an anchor then the rifle number "No. 3507" over inspector's initials "H.H.E.". Bridge of action is marked "Remington Arms Company Ilion, N.Y. SOLE MANUFACTURERS AND AGENTS" with side marked "Patented Nov. 4th 1879". Comes with 2 groove magazinmarked "Patented May 28th 1872, Nov 4th 1879, Aug 26th 1884, Sept. 9th 1884". Walnut full stock with 2 barrel bands and sling swivels with steel buttplate. CONDITION: Metal parts turning a brown patina with some light freckling. Wood has oil soaked appearance with heavy usage marks and dings with furniture exhibiting some pitting. Shootable bore and good mechanics. DLM
