The M53 machine gun was manufactured shortly after World War II by Yugoslavia, using left over German machinery. A near identical copy of the German MG-42, the M53 differed only with it's lower rate of fire and lack of an anti-air sight. This semi-automatic example was produced by Wise Lite Arms. The left side of the receiver is marked "WISE LITE ARMS/ BOYD, TX/ MOD. AJM53/ WLA28-6783/ 8MM MAUSER". The top cover is marked with the Yugoslavian coat of arms above Cyrillic characters. This specimen is complete with an HK marked lafette tripod, tripod optic, optic light, and an ammo can containing a PKM ammo belt. CONDITION: Metal components retain ample amounts of their reapplied finish, exhibiting some wear from operation, as well as handling marks to the finish. Booster shows two fair sized indentations, which likely happened previous to it's importation. Bright bore, with well defined rifling throughout. Wood buttstock has a chip at the toe. A very nice example of a Yugoslavian M53 semi-automatic rifle. -MLW-
