Classic configuration of one of the iconic British sniper rifles. S51 stamp indicates conversion performed by Holland and Holland. Various stamps in wood include "A/2" a cruciform stamp, Broad arrow in circle, "B / 32" in a lozenge, "N", and "S51" in cheekpiece. M21503A on rear of bolt, 58820 on top of wrist, left side of wrist with "RCF / M21503A" matching bolt. Stock numbered 21503 just behind nose cap. Comes in an appropriate OD green transit chest with appropriate bayonet. Chest has a partially obliterated paper label on top that indicates shipment somewhere in Canada. Tel Sighting No. 32 MK I scope is a modern reproduction dated 1941 with 2837 serial but attaches appropriately. CONDITION: Very good as repainted in a black lacquer, probably done at an arsenal when reissued. Wood has some normal handling marks throughout and an extra layer of varnish, again likely applied when rifle was refit for service. Buttplate somewhat undersized. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with strong rifling and some minor oxidation in grooves. Case is very good with some chipping to paint and general age related marks; paper label is legible but partially destroyed by time. Bayonet is very good with some age related marks and silver marks. Scope is fine. EW
