Winchester late Second Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine built in 1869. Blued round rifled barrel with integral barrel band front blade sight with fixed notch rear sight with barrel marked "Winchester Repeating Arms , New Haven CT." over "King's Improvement-Patented March 29, 1866 October 16, 1860". Brass frame with loading gate and dovetail sideplates in front and squared off in rear configuration. Iron loop with saddle ring with plain trigger. Walnut plain stock with brass crescent buttplate with trapdoor(missing rod). Walnut plain forearm with iron band and full tubular magazine. CONDITION: Metal turning a silvery patina with brass having a natural golden patina. Latch retainer is missing. Wood has traces of original finish with chip missing behind right side of tang. Toe has old repair. Forearm has traces of finish with aged handling marks and dings. Dark bore with visible rifling and good mechanics. DLM
