Lot consists of: (A) Colt Police Positive double action revolver with box. Made 1929. Barrel is marked "COLT POLICE/POSITIVE .38", with patent dates on top of the barrel. "VP" proof on the left side of the trigger guard. Rampant Colt pony on the left side of the frame. Matching serials on the frame and yolk. Round steel barrel with half moon front sight and U-notch cut out rear. Factory blued finish with the hammer being left in the white. Checkered wood grips with silver Colt medallions on each panel. Includes original box, being hand numbered on the inside. Also inside is a second hand sales receipt from 1976. CONDITION: Metal retains 98% of its original finish with a few light handling marks. Grips are excellent, with little signs of use. Sharp bore with crisp rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Crisp timing and lock up. Very light drag line on the cylinder. Mechanically excellent. Box is fair with torn edges and overall wear, with 1 end being taped. (B) Colt Detective Special double action revolver. Made 1931. Barrel is marked "38 DETECTIVE/SPECIAL" on the left side, with patent dates on the right side. Rampant Colt pony on the left side of the frame. "VP" proof on the left side of the trigger guard. Matching serials on the frame and yolk. Round, steel barrel with a half moon front sight, and U-notch cut out rear. Factory blued finish with the hammer still in the white. Serrated grips. Checkered wood grips with silver "COLT" emblems on each panel. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its finish with light wear and handling marks. Grips are very good overall with light wear to the checkering. Right panel has a large crack, extending from the bottom to about 1" in. Bore is shiny with crisp rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good timing and lock up. Drag lines on the cylinder. Mechanically fine. JWA
