Manufactured in 1940, this Colt Officers Model Target is fitted with a .32 caliber heavy barrel, and is one of only an estimated 800-1500 of this variation known to have been produced between 1939-1941. The left side of the tapered barrel is stamped "COLT OFFICERS MODEL 32/ *HEAVY BARREL* ", with the Colt 2 line address across the top. The left side of the frame is stamped with the rampant Colt logo. This revolver features all blue finish with a partridge front sight and windage adjustable rear sight. The trigger and rear grip strap are checkered. Mounted with Colt silver medallion checkered walnut grips. Complete with a replacement Colt factory cardboard box containing an original cleaning rod, a Colt "Shooting Suggestions" pamphlet, and an original factory paper test target, tested by F. P. Kiely. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting few minor areas of wear. The grip strap exhibits some very light freckling and the cylinder has a light dragline. Mirror bore, with well defined lands and grooves throughout. Checkered walnut grips exhibit some light smoothing, as well as a few minor handling marks. Colt factory cardboard box exhibits age and wear, with losses to the interior corners, and has been taped around the edges. End labels show wear and aging, with the bottom label having losses all around. A contemporary "32" label has been taped to the box. A very nice, high condition example of a seldom encountered Colt revolver. -MLW-
