Manufactured in early 1913, this Colt New Service revolver features all blue finish with brush blue finish along the grip straps and underside of the frame, and is mounted with 2 piece checkered walnut Colt silver medallion grips. The 5 - 1/2" barrel is fitted with a fixed blade front sight and notched rear sights. Trigger is smooth, with the hammer being checkered. Lanyard loop on butt is present. The left side of the barrel is marked "NEW SERVICE 44-40", with the top bearing Colt's 2 line address. The bottom of the barrel is marked "976" towards the breech with a matching "976" being present on the frame beneath the left grip panel. Rampant Colt logo is present on the left side of the frame. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting few minor areas of wear and bearing only a light dragline along the cylinder. Barrel appears to be a vintage refinish. Markings are crisp, with the exception of the Colt address, which is soft in some areas. Mirror bore, with well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips appear to be replacements, showing smoothing, wear, and some indentations all around. A very nice example of a Colt New Service revolver, manufactured in early 1913. -MLW-
