Manufactured in 1941, this Colt Officers Model Target is fitted with a .32 caliber heavy barrel, and is one of only an estimated 800-1500 of this variation known to have been produced between 1939-1941. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT OFFICERS MODEL 32/ *HEAVY BARREL* ", with the Colt 2 line address across the top. This revolver features all blue finish with a Partridge front sight and windage adjustable rear sight. The left side of the frame is stamped with the Rampant Colt logo, with the trigger and rear grip strap being checkered. Mounted with Colt silver medallion checkered walnut grips. The factory letter indicates that this revolver was sent in a shipment of 35 other revolvers to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Quartermaster, in Natick, MA on the 14th of May, 1941. Accompanying this example is its original, matching factory cardboard box containing a matching factory paper target tested by J.M. Molloy, as well as two "Shooting Suggestion" pamphlets. Inscribed on the interior of the lid is "gen Skinner/ 656872". CONDITION: Excellent. Metal components retain near new amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting few minor areas of wear, and exhibiting only a very light dragline on the cylinder. Mirror bore, with well defined rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips are sharp and exhibit few minor handling or storage marks. Original factory box shows some wear from storage and age. End labels show some scattered losses, but are legible. A spectacular example of a seldom seen Colt revolver, that paired with its condition and history, would be a hard example for the discerning collector to upgrade from. -MLW-
