New England Style underhammer percussion target rifle built circa 1850. Full octagon rifled barrel with muzzle turned for a bullet starter. Unmarked except on bottom stamped "6--3--3". Globe front sight with blacksmith made rear adjustable sight using an ingenious wedge pin type system with notches for each setting of elevation with the pin on a slide catching on each notch on the tang. Walnut stock with German silver furniture and a brass oval cap box full of linen patches. Single trigger controlled internal action controlling a percussion underhammer. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal turning an aged brown patina with some light surface pitting. German silver has a coat of old oil covering it with brass patchbox possibly cleaned a long time ago and now fading to a golden patina. Wood has added coat of oil with some handling dings and marks.
