Kentucky style target rifle made circa 1850 and of unknown origin. Full octagon barrel measuring 1 - 5/16" across muzzle flats with front dovetail sight (missing) and rear notched sight and added rear plugged dovetail sight with barrel stamped "W.P.J.". "Jos. Golcher" marked percussion lock with double set trigger control. Full curly maple stock with artificial striping finish, brass furniture including an engraved 4 piece patchbox and sideplate. Barrel is fitted with a patent breech percussion ignition system. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: As found condition with metal having an aged brown patina with some surface corrosion. Patchbox lid is in need of repair with hinge needing soldering. Trigger guard is a replacement with wood added in front of guard. Wood has traces of original striping with broken brass lock sideplate and crack near top in wood. Dark shootable bore with functioning mechanics. DLM
