1854 vintage Colt 1851 Navy with serial number 39849. 7-1/2" octagon barrel in .36 caliber. All numbers are matching including frame, cylinder, trigger guard, backstrap, wedge, rammer, and barrel. Marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY" on top barrel flat. British "(Crown) / V" proof on left of barrel near forcing cone and on one chamber of cylinder. "L" marked on trigger guard. "G" on rear of trigger guard near grips and "2" marked on left side of barrel near receiver. Complete with ivory grips. CONDITION: Very good with added brown finish turning metal parts to an even patina. Silver plated areas have faded revealing the brass on backstrap and trigger guard. Moderate denting on rammer toward the breech and gouges in brass on grip frame and trigger guard. There is a weld to the right side of the barrel near front of cylinder. Ivory grips have some age cracking and shrinkage but still fit well for their age. Action works appropriately. Safety pins at rear of cylinder show significant wear. Cylinder scene shows some modest wear from handling. Bore is dark with visible rifling and abrasion throughout. -TN-
