Manufactured in 1943 by Mauser, this K98 is marked "byf/43" above the chamber, with an eagle over "135" waffenamt on the right side of the receiver. Eagle over "135" waffenamt is barely discernable on the stock. Matching numbers include the receiver, barrel bands, rear sight ladder, bolt assembly, bolt stop, trigger guard, floorplate, hand guard, and stock. Barrel is stamped "43R181" towards the chamber. Stock and handguard are laminated, and are fitted with a cupped buttplate. Buttplate is stamped "gqm/ 43". Cleaning rod is not present. CONDITION: Metal components retain fair amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning all around that shows through to patina, as well as some scattered areas of oxidation. Bore is bright, exhibiting some areas of pitting and oxidation, as well as well defined rifling throughout. Stock shows scattered handling and storage marks, as well as a few small gouges. -MLW-
