U.S. Model 1813 flintlock pistol by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut. 9" round barrel in .69 caliber retained by Wickham's Improvement (a spring loaded stud retainer) and double strapped barrel band. North removable brass flashpan. This is one of only 1,626 of these pistols produced. Due to their punishing recoil, this contract that was originally for 20,000 was quickly halted and redesigned into the Model 1816 (.54 caliber). Plain walnut stock with hickory ramrod. Lock is marked "S. NORTH" / "U" (eagle) "S" / "MIDLN. CONN." Barrel marked with "P" / "US." CONDITION: Very good as heavily cleaned with light pitting and handling marks throughout. Stock is good with moderate to heavy wear and active crack behind lock. Action works correctly. Bore is very good with moderate abrasion. A great example of a scarce martial pistol. -TN-
