Sharp's Model 1853 "slant breech" percussion carbine, serial number 10233. 21 - 5/8" .54 caliber round barrel with folding leaf rear sight and brass blade front. 2 piece plain walnut stock and forearm complete with single brass barrel band, slide bar carbine ring, brass patchbox (empty), and brass carbine buttplate. CONDITION: Good with virtually all of the original finish turned to a mottled gray patina with moderate pitting and handling marks. Stock and forearm have repaired cracks at forearm mounting screw and wrist. Wood is filled near top tang of buttplate. Chip at toe of stock. Action works appropriately. Bore has some darkness and moderate abrasion but retains sharp rifling. -TN-
