Factory engraved Smith & Wesson .32 Double Action 4th Model double action revolver. Made 1883-1909, with this example most likely being made sometime around 1888. Barrel rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS U.S.A. PAT'D JAN. 24. 65. JULY 11. 65. AUG. 24. 69. JULY 25. 71. MAY 11. 80. JAN. 3. 82". Serial number on the butt and cylinder are matching. Round steel barrel with full rib and half-moon front sight. Factory scroll engraving on the barrel and frame, extending to the bottom of the back grip strap. Nickel finish throughout, looking to be from the factory. Trigger guard, trigger, and hammer are case colored. Period pearl grips with the left panel being having a nicely carved "WL". Inside of the right grip panel is numbered "100301", making these possibly original to the gun. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its finish with most of the finish wear on the barrel and cylinder. Faint case coloring can be seen on the trigger. Grips are excellent. Bore has some minor pitting, retaining sharp rifling. Hammer and cylinder are tight. Timing and cylinder gap are sharp. Mechanically fine. JWA
