Belgian pinfire double action 6 shot revolver with "Hyde and Goodrich N.O." marking on top barrel flat. Hyde and Goodrich of New Orleans, Louisiana were importers of fine European Goods from 1828 to 1861. Revolver also has oval German silver tag on grip monogrammed with "Lt. W. H. McKay Crescent Regt. New Orleans". The Crescent Regiment was a Confederate Regiment formed in New Orleans in 1861. Gun has 5" octagon rifled barrel with pedestal blade front sight. 6 shot smooth pinfire cartridge cylinder. Frame engraved with light scroll patterns around screws. Walnut checkered 1 piece grips with lanyard loop on butt. CONDITION: Gun is of spurious origin with The "Hyde and Goodrich" marking going in a different direction than usually observed and we have been unable to locate a "W. H. McKay" as of yet that served in the Crescent Regiment. Generally this pistol is of a style that was more common after the Civil War. Pistol has a silvery patina appearance with light patches of surface discoloration. Grips are worn with handling marks and dings. Good bore with sharp rifling and gun has good functioning mechanics.
