Lot consists of (A) Early production Type 14 pistol manufactured by Tokyo Arsenal in June of 1928. Early production features include a small variation trigger guard, with a lack of a magazine retention spring. Matching numbers include the frame, trigger guard, trigger, magazine latch, magazine safety block, barrel & barrel extension, bolt, locking block, cocking knob, and 2 piece serrated wood grips. Magazine does not match and front sight has been replaced. CONDITION: Metal components retain traces of their original blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning that shows through to a gray patina, as well as scattered areas of pitting all around. Rear of cocking knob is slightly bent on the left side side. Bore shows light pitting throughout and retains fair rifling. Grips exhibit wear and show some scattered handling and storage marks. (B) Late war production, series 2 Type 14 pistol manufactured by the Toriimatsu Factory in June of 1944. Later production features include a large style trigger guard and knurled cocking knob. Matching numbers include the frame, trigger guard, trigger, magazine latch, safety lever, barrel & barrel extension locking block, bolt, striker, cocking knob, and 2 piece serrated wood grips. Striker matches, but no longer retains its tip. Magazine does not match. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some smoothing and pitting beneath the finish. Safety lever and extractor retain their reddish tone. Mirror bore, with well defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some minor flaking to the varnish. A nice pair of early and late production Type 14 Nambu pistols. -MLW-
