Model 1897 manufactured circa 1926. 20 - 1/2" barrel. No US markings. Classic configuration with bead front sight, pump action, pistol grip stock, and Winchester buttplate with white painted "18", possibly a rack number. Highly popular and effective as trench and close quarter combat guns throughout World War I and through into Viet Nam. CONDITION: Very good. Retains much of the bluing with some silvering at high points and operational areas and one pair of rubs near muzzle, likely from being placed in a rack. Wood with normal bumps and bruises throughout but solid. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is excellent, bright and shiny. EW
