This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/30/2021
Manufactured in 1943 at Berlin-Lubecker Maschinenfabrik (BLM), the G41(W) rifle utilizes the Danish-designed "Bang" system and was developed to supply front line troops with more semi-automatic rifles to improve their combat efficiency. Due to the G41(W)'s design, the rifle was difficult to maintain and was soon succeeded by the G43 after the German military's early encounters with the Soviet SVT-40. This example is marked "G.41 duv 43" followed by the serial number. Most metal components are marked with an eagle over "WaA 214" waffenamts. The receiver features rail cuts for the exceptionally rare ZF.40 1.5 power optic and straddle mount (not included) and upper handguard is comprised of brown bakelite. Receiver, trigger guard, magazine well, and stock match. Bolt assembly, muzzle assembly, and bolt guide are not matching. Cleaning rod is not present. CONDITION: Metal components retain generous amounts of their blue finish, exhibiting some wear and some very light freckling on the bolt carrier and muzzle assembly. Bolt guide is in-the-white. Bore is bright, exhibiting areas of light oxidation within the grooves and retaining good rifling throughout. Laminated stock shows scattered handling marks and indentations with several spots of scattered marring overall. Bakelite handguard shows some scattered marks from use and a few small gouges. Only an estimated 150,000 of the G41(W) rifles were produced, with a large number of them contributing to Germany's high attrition rate on the Eastern Front. -MLW-
