Manufactured circa 1918 for World War I. Standard 5 - 1/2" blued finish barrel with half moon front sight and U-notch rear sights. Barrel marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the bottom and "S. & W. D.A. 45" on side. Also stamped "US ARMY MODEL 1917" on butt. 6 shot cylinder chambered for .45 ACP to be used with half moon clips. Case hardened trigger and hammer with smooth walnut military grips. CONDITION: Good. Retains large amounts of factory applied blued finish which is fading to a brown/gray patina with silvering at high edges, several small spots of older corrosion, a drag line and usage marks. Grips show moderate wear with several bruises and imprints. Very good, bright bore. Indexes correctly. BAS
