This exceptionally high condition Series 37 Type 99 specimen was manufactured at the Tokyo Juki Kogyo plant during World War II. The left hand side of the receiver is marked with the series 37 symbol followed by the serial number and manufacturer emblem. Receiver retains its chrysanthemum. All matching numbers, which includes the receiver, bolt, extractor, firing pin, safety knob, and dust cover. Firing pin spring is still retained in what is likely its original factory cosmoline. Features include a 25 - 1/2" barrel, chrome lined bore, dust cover, inverted "V" front sight, adjustable peep rear sight with graduations from 300-1500 meters with anti-aircraft wings, and a 2-piece buttstock with drain hole just ahead of the floorplate and another on the right side just beneath the chamber area. Rear barrel band is slotted and has no slot to accept a monopod attachment. Included with this already phenomenal example is an original Type 99 rubberized canvas sling featuring it's original strip of cloth featuring multiple kanji characters, as well as an original brown plastic Type 99 muzzle cap which has two kanji characters etched into the side. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting only some minor losses on the trigger guard assembly, which is likely a cleaned area of very light surface oxidation, as well as some very light wear on the magazine follower from operation of the bolt. Mirror bore, retaining fine rifling throughout. Stock shows some scattered impressions from handling and storage and retains well defined proof marks. Rubberized canvas sling shows age related cracking, as well as some losses resulting from flaking. Plastic muzzle cap is excellent, being completely intact and showing a few minor storage marks. A truly exceptionally high condition Type 99 rifle that is complimented by scarce and desirable accessories that will gladly make itself the focal point of the advance collector's ensemble. -MLW-
