One of 4000 First Model 1916 Newton Rifles built circa 1916 by Charles Newton Company, Buffalo, New York. Blued round rifled tapered barrel with banded front sight with beaded blade. Banded rear sight with stationary notch sight with flip up notch sight. Barrel marked with Newton Address and is marked "NEWTON" with gun most likely chambered for .30 Newton (should chamber cast for exact caliber). Blued action with raised scope block mounts and factory holes for Lyman style peep sight. Straight bolt handle with two position flip style safety. Blued detachable floorplate with forward facing double triggers and no visible floorplate screws. Walnut checkered schnabel forearm one piece pistol grip stock with original sling swivels and added White Line recoil pad. CONDITION: 90% of an old reblue remaining with barrel having been drilled in front of rear sight and behind rear sight. Some small areas of pitting around trigger guard. Rear bridge has also been drilled. Stock has 40% finish with handling marks and dings and has been cut for addition of recoil pad. Good shootable bore with good mechanics. DLM
