Blade front sight with 3-leaf rear sight, 1 standing and 2 foldings, marked for 100, 200, and 300 yards respectively. 2 bands retained by screws. Brass forearm cap with appropriate type ramrod. Right side of barrel with mount for Yataghan bayonet. Sling swivel at front band. Nipple protected secured in front of brass trigger guard. Simple lock with "1862 / TOWER" and crown at rear, with simple lined borders, retained by two screws with brass escutcheons. Brass buttplate with "COOK & SON" along toe line. Appropriate bayonet. CONDITION: Very good. Metal has an even rich chocolate patina, brass with a deep uncleaned mustard patina. Wood is very good but has several nicks, pings, and a couple of longer strikes from 150 years of existence. Bayonet is very good, blade has been subjected to a gentle European style cleaning with some old spotting and one area of abrasion on left side near point. Exposed metal of bayonet and scabbard metal a deep chocolate patina en suite with rifle metal. Leather is with extensive crazing and is stiff. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good. EW
