Lot consists of: (A) Massive half stock Kentucky rifle double stamped on barrel "W. Bodenheimer". Bodenheimer worked in Lancaster, Ohio from 1815 to 1879. Massive 41 - 3/8" octagonal rifled barrel that measures 1 - 1/8" across barrel flats with silver blade front sight and fixed notch rear. "H Elwell Warranted" marked percussion lock with double set trigger control. Curly maple half stock with pewter nosecap and brass furniture. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal turning to an aged brown patina with some surface discoloration. Wood has aged finish with patches of wear and some slight burnout around lock. Dark bore with good rifling and good mechanics. (B) Percussion smoothbore Trade or fowling piece made circa the 1850s from older parts. Half round half octagon barrel from an earlier gun fitted with a patent breech percussion ignition system controlled by a back action lock marked "WARRANTED" and controlled by a single trigger. Curly maple halfstock with brass furniture and German Silver barrel escutcheon plate and nosecap. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall poor with mechanical issues (lock does not hold cock).
