1887 vintage Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle, serial number 8782. 26" octagon barrel chambered in .40-82 Winchester Centerfire with full length magazine tube, fixed blade brass front sight, and standard rear sight. 2 piece factory checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock complete with rifle forearm cap, rifle buttplate, and added ebony pistol grip insert. CONDITION: Good, with virtually all of the original bluing faded to a gray-brown patina with numerous handling and storage marks appropriate for its age. Stock and forearm are fair as sanded and refinished with checkering worn flat. Full length live crack on bottom side of forearm with large repair at wrist. Ebony pistol grip insert likely added to cover up screw used to add repair at wrist. Action functions appropriately. Bore is dark with visible rifling. TON
