Lot consists of (A) French Flintlock fowler by Godbert, who is recorded as working in Amiens circa 1835. Barrels with silver front sight with silver inlay "Canon Cordu / Fer de Fraux" over chambers. Silver touchholes, hooked breeches. Barrels are Damascus twist. Barrels are proofed on the underside but difficult to make out. Ramrod, likely the original, retained by two turned ferrules with sling swivel on second ferrule and reinforced at mouth with pineapple finial. Ramrod threaded at one end. Flint locks with French swan neck cocks, waterproof pans, roller bearing frizzens, and light engraving. Left lock signed "Armurier /a Amiens", right with "Godbert / pere". Forearm with basketweave checkering which is repeated at wrist before turning into a boar head. Buttplate with dog engraving at heel. Sling swivel at toe line. CONDITION: Good as restored. Barrels have been heavily cleaned in the European fashion over old oxidation. Silver inlay is clear. Second ferrule detached from rib, exercise caution. Steel mounts have been heavily cleaned by bead blasting or equivalent, giving them a grey appearance. Wood has numerous bumps and dings through, and some evidence of wood repairs. Actions work appropriately when cycled by hand, bores are good with pitting throughout. (B) 16 Bore side by side shotgun marked "Mortimer London" on Damascus twist barrels with light floral engraving over breech. Hooked breeches with silver line decoration between nipples. Appropriate British proofs on underside although heavily obfuscated by rebrowning, appears to indicate 16 bore. Single bead front sight on smooth rib. Ramrod possible the original and retained by two ferrules with reinforcement at mouth in the form of a pineapple finial. Trigger guard with flat front engraved with scroll. Percussion locks with tall cocks and flash hiders engraved in scroll and signed "MORTIMER" on both locks. Point pattern checkering at wrist. Finial in the form of a dog on toe line. Widows peak buttplate engraved with scroll at heel and simple geometric borders at butt. Vacant silver thumb shield. CONDITION: Good, having been completely restored. Barrels have been heavily rebrowned with heavy softness to legends and spotted dotting. Locks have been cleaned in the European fashion over some dotted spotting. Stock is somewhat dry but appears to have had an old layer of varnish added as checkering is very soft. Splice repair under barrel key. Action works appropriately (right hammer has had affixing screw replaced), although wiggles a bit. Bores are good with some oxidation. A neat lot of artsy shotguns. EW
