Gun is stamped "John Smith" on the barrel and lock. Sellers indicates several "John Smith's" but architecture suggests an origin in Ohio or possibly Indiana/Illinois area. Gun has an octagon rifled barrel stamped "JOHN SMITH" with a gunsmith made globe front sight and a gunsmith made rear adjustable sight with a gunsmith made lollipop folding tang sight. Gunsmith made back action percussion lock marked "JOHN SMITH" and controlled by double set triggers. Walnut half stock with perch belly architecture typical of areas previously mentioned. Brass furniture with brass circular lid. Pewter nosepiece with German silver barrel escutcheon plate. Comes with hardwood ramrod. A nice petite target type rifle. CONDITION: Metal showing an aged patina with lock possibly cleaned. Wood is solid with no visible repairs or restoration. Shootable bore with trigger not functioning and releasing hammer. DLM
