Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured by Mauser in 1939 for the German military. The receiver is marked "1939" over the chamber area, and bears Mauser eagle over "63" waffenamts on the right hand side, which is also present on the barrel. Left side of breechblock bears a faint eagle proof mark. The left side of the frame is electro-penciled "Viggo Hoyer" with "V. Hoyer" on the right hand side. Additionally, the left side of the frame (near the safety lever) and rear of the frame are also electropencilled with an unidentified symbol consisting of an "X" surrounded by four dots. All numbers are matching, including the extra magazine, with the exception of the grips which are unnumbered. This Luger is accompanied by a brown leather holster manufactured by R. Ehrhardt in 1939 that bears an eagle over "WaA39" waffenamt on the rear panel, which is complete with a matching additional magazine as well as an unmarked loading tool. Holster flap retains portions of an old indiscernible handwritten sticker. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting a few minor areas of wear that show through to silvering, as well as several areas that exhibit light oxidation. Bore is bright, showing light oxidation and retaining well defined lands and grooves throughout. Checkered walnut grips bear some light smoothing to the checkering as well as a few minor nicks to the diamonds. Leather holster shows some scattered handling and storage marks, retaining good stitching and showing a few areas of age related cracking. Magazines show areas of oxidation all around. A nice and interestingly marked Mauser manufactured Luger. -MLW-
