Lot consists of: (A) Smith & Wesson Model 1917 double action revolver. Made post war, possibly from frame and parts already made for the Government. Standard patent dates on the top of the barrel. Small "S&W" monogram on the left side of the frame. Left side of the barrel is marked "S.&W. D.A. 45" No U.S. Markings, minus a small eagle proof on the bottom of the barrel. Half moon front sight with u-notch rear. Commercial style blued finish. Commercial style checkered medallion grips. Square butt with provisions for a lanyard ring (not present). Case hardened trigger and hammer. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its original finish with a few handling marks and scratches. Grips have a few handling marks, scratches and dents. Bore is lightly frosted with very good rifling. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good timing. Drag lines on the cylinder. (B) Smith & Wesson Model of 1905 4th change double action revolver. Made c. 1920. Standard patent date on the top of the barrel. Large "S&W" trademark monogram on the right sideplate. 4" round steel barrel with half moon front sight and u-notch rear. Blued finish on the frame looks to be factory. Right side plate though looks to have been refinished. Case hardened trigger and hammer. "S&W" monogram checkered wood grips. CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its original finish on the frame and barrel with light wear. Grips have minor handling marks, dings and scratches. Frosted bore with a few minor pits. Good rifling retained. Tight hammer and cylinder. Good timing and lockup. Drag lines on the cylinder. Mechanically fine. JWA
