A handsomely engraved 12 gauge heavy side by side 32" chopper lump barreled game gun with machined styled swamped game rib, round steel front bead and extended Greener style bolt lock. Barrels muzzles are engraved with scroll and breech end of barrels are fitted for side clips with ejectors and engraved with floral scroll and hunting dogs. Rib reads J.P. Sauer and Son in gold. Left and right barrel read "SPECIAL GUN BARREL STEEL" "FRIED KRUPP, A.G. ESSEN". Under barrel is marked Prussia. The deep relief engraved boxlock action has traces of color, top lever, auto safe (SAFE in gold), fitted for cross bolt locking mechanism and side clips. Beautiful relief engraving of Germanic floral scroll and game scenes. Left side of action bears what might be two pigeons standing and one feeding while right side of action has four birds flying all surrounded by floral scroll. Beneath both sets of birds there is a ribbon which reads "J.P. SAUER & SON". Bottom action is engraved with lovely golden peacock standing over a gold crown and gold ribbon which reads "VINCIT AMOR PATRIAE". Gold washed double triggers with floral relief engraved trigger guard with flying ducks through wood in vignette. Finely checkered splinter forend with Anson push button release and forend also carved/engraved with a regal floral pattern. The dark honey and smoky straight grained pistol grip stock has fine checkering matching the forend with checkered and ornamented side panels while the fine pistol grip is decorated with what appears to be oak leaves. Buttstock with medallion for initials or crest and nicely fit dark leather pad. Wooden case with brass corners and some accessories. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain 98% color with light handling marks. Stock in very good condition with some light handling and storage marks. The screw under the trigger guard has evidence of being opened. Forend in good condition with some signs of usage. Case in very good condition with some scratches. Cataloger believes this gun is good for nitro but can not find any indication as to whether it is.
