Manufactured by DWM before the start of the Great War for commercial sales within and outside of Germany. Major metal components are rust blued, with smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Chamber area is blank, with crown over "B" and "U" proofs present on the left side of the receiver. Crown over "B" and "U" proofs is present on the left side of the breechblock, with crown over "B" "U" and "G" proofs on the underside of the barrel. Toggle is marked with the DWM monogram. A hold-open device was added, and the frame was proofed accordingly to signify its alteration. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the rear toggle link which shows its former serial number beneath its current one, as well as the firing pin, grips, and magazine, which are unnumbered. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting a few minor areas that appear to have been touched up at one point in time. Strawed components retain lustrous amounts of their reapplied finish, showing few minor areas of wear. Mirror bore, with well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Checkered walnut grips are excellent, showing some very light smoothing, and a few minor chips to the diamonds. -MLW-
